What's So Glamourous About Eating Crabs? Crab Buffet at Glamour

When we think of the word glamour we always connect this word with clothes, modeling and photography. But this is not what its all about. Somewhere in Davao City is a restaurant named Glamour Resto and Caterer and they offer a crab all you can eat buffet.

We went there with my office-mates for a triple celebration (to celebrate the birthday of October celebrants, a promotion of an office-mate and sending off someone). It's good that one of my staff had the restaurants phone number so she was able to make reservations. We arrived at Glamour Resto a little past 6 pm and after we got our first serving and seated several groups of diners came and the restaurant was filled not very long after. It's really true that this place is known to those who loves dining out, loves seafoods and buffets. Just like us.

You might expect that because it's name is Glamour it looks like a high end restaurant. It's exactly the opposite. The restaurant was not lavishly decorated, the interior is small and simple with southern Mindanao ethnic design drapes hanging from the ceiling. What diners were really after at Glamour is the food that they serve in their buffet table. This restaurant is also Halal certified.

What is halal? Halal is an Arabic word that simply means "lawful, permitted or acceptable while halal foods are food or dishes that are allowed under Islamic dietary guidelines. (Source: About.com) So, Glamour Resto and Caterer is the one place of the few where our brothers & sisters who practice or following the Islam Religion can go and enjoy the abundance of seafood dishes.

Aside from crabs and shrimps, they also have soup and appetizer (fresh tuna kinilaw with green mango). The grill tray contained perfectly grilled squid, tuna panga (tuna jaw), bihod (roe) and bagaybay (fish gonads). The meat tray has fried chicken which tasted really good and beef that was tender and flavorful. The steamed vegetables were fresh, crunchy and cooked just right. Dessert table also had several offerings like fresh fruits, baked goodies and others (leche flan, maja blanca and mango float). At the price of P398 one may think its a bit pricey but once you get hold of the huge and fat crabs and how the ingredients blended together and made the crabs taste fascinating, then taste the other dishes too, then you will not wonder anymore why people go and fill this place.

I am allergic to seafood's but I just can't resist eating crabs, prawn or shrimps. So, I brought antihistamine with me that evening and took it after dinner. Again, I lost count how many times I came back to the buffet table to get more crabs every time they refill it. I really had a wonderful dinner that evening.

What's so glamorous  about eating crabs? Dine at Glamour Resto & Caterer and you'll see =)

  19. Wow Ricky! That makes two of us -- I'm actually allergic to seafoods too, particularly crab and shrimps. I'm glad that you actually tried the crab buffet despite the allergy. I mean, I could do too, given how sumptuous those fat crabs looked! But given my condition (even with a claritin intake), 1-2 crabs will do. :P

  20. I haven't been here even though I was in Davao quite recently. I'll mark this as a place to try (Davao is my food trip haven). On a semi-connected note, I had some large crabs cooked in butter last night :P
