Bruno My Lab

BRUNO My Yellow Labrador Retriever

Only 2 months old he arrived at his new home. He was brought by Paul & Donna (the Breeder).  The last dog I had died of old age (12 human years with us) was Toni a mixed Japanese Spitz.  After she died I thought of not getting another dog again.

But the moment Paul & Donna passed Bruno for me to carry a connection was instantly there.  I just can't keep my eyes off him. He is so sweet and never cried when they left him. Good thing was they left a cloth used in their pen, the scent of his mom and the other puppies is on the cloth for him to smell so he won't smell them much or maybe he knew that he is home.

Before Bruno arrived, I read a lot and did a research in the internet about how to take care of this kind of breed.  Although each dog has different personalities, I read that Labrador Retrievers are generally very even tempered breed and an excellent family dog. This includes a good reputation with children and other animals. So I thought this is the kind of pet I should have because I have 2 nieces who spends their weekends at my house.

When Bruno was finally laid down on the floor he walk around the house and peed everywhere ha ha ha ha . . . .  I thought, he is marking his territory and with that we will be expecting a house to smell dog pee waaaaaaaaaaaah :(

Bruno @ 2 months old.  Already 1 month with us
First day with Bruno was really not  hard, we were preparing for weeks already with his food (we didn't change his dog food Lamb Pro Puppy), a carpet for his spot in the house specifically inside my bedroom, his black and red collar which he has already outgrown :) We aren't very excited aren't we =) ha ha ha ha . . . . Bruno is the first dog that I allowed to sleep inside my room.

I am working from 8-5 so I am away from Bruno during the day. That is why every evening I always look forward to being home because it will be my time to play with Bruno.  As soon as I changed to house clothes Bruno & I will go outside to play until being called for dinner. He loves to run around the lawn and he seems tireless. He liked to go over the potted plants of my Mom and play with the leaves. Don't know if he was just playing with it or eating it and my Mom's screams or mine won't stop him from doing it over and over tumbling the pots or sometimes uprooting the plants from the soil :))

3 months Bruno
At a very young age Bruno is already showing his athletic skills.  He often runs around the house tirelessly, playing with the big plastic soda bottles or run after his small ball after it is thrown behind him.  He also bites a lot and most of the furniture's in the house has bites marks already.  That's why I bought him a big plastic steak toy for him to bite.  Though sometimes he just can't help himself from getting our slippers or shoes or anything he finds laying on the floor.  He has actually biten and snapped 2 Havaianas already ha ha ha ha ha.  But you cannot unlove Bruno because he is so sweet, playful, affectionate and happy companion.

Bruno being a Labrador Breed naturally loves to play with water.  He loves to lay and roll in a puddle.  He also loves to pick stones and anything in the garden and bring it inside the house.  He enjoys retrieving a ball endlessly and I've read that they also love other activity such as agility, frisbee or flyball which we will try in time :)

Sadly Labradors are not suitable as Guard Dogs. They are often easygoing and trusting with strangers. Paul told me that you can feed dogs vegetables and Bruno loves Carrots & Apple.  I have yet to have him try other vegetables :)

Bruno is 4 months old already.  Only 2 months with us and he already gave us reason to stay at home. Everyday reveals new tricks or I think his breed's nature slowly showing.

Today October 9, 2011 Bruno's PCCI Registration Certifacate finally arrived.  And glad to know that he has 15 Red Marks, a truly champion lineage.  Hope he will become one in the future.
